Interactive Bow Tie Diagram Software
Drive increased buy-in from stakeholders with bowtie-diagram safety assessments that are clearly understandable, stripping away complex jargon in favor of intuitive, visual workflows you can actually work in — not just look at.
Clear, Jargon-Free Bow Tie Diagrams
Safety cases often fail to gain buy-in because they are buried in hundreds of pages of dense, jargon-heavy reports. SAFOPS visualises the entire fault sequence—from initiating event to barrier to consequence—as a clean, interactive bowtie diagram that anyone can understand. Barrier visualisation is the whole point: a safety critical element either shows up clearly protecting something, or its absence does.
Identify Single Points of Failure Instantly
By visually connecting preventative barriers and mitigations, engineers and plant managers can instantly spot gaps without needing a PhD in reliability engineering.
A Real Number, Not Just a Category
Every consequence box now carries its own deterministic residual-frequency estimate — the exposure group's summed initiating-event frequency multiplied straight through the PFD of every barrier actually scoped to protect it, prevention then mitigation. It's a point estimate from the PFD upper bounds already defined in your project's Safety Class Tiers, not a simulated distribution — so there's a real number sitting next to the qualitative category, computed from data you already trust.
See Every Gap, Right In the Sequence
A safety measure with a recorded deficiency shows a red indicator directly on its plate — not buried three clicks deep in a separate tracker. Scan a whole fault sequence at a glance and see exactly which barriers still have open work, then zoom out to the facility-wide Gaps view to see every outstanding deficiency across every fault sequence in one place. The bigger picture is always one click away from the detail.
Work In the Sequence, Not Just View It
Every fault sequence diagram is a live workspace, not a static export:
- Click any safety measure for its full detail — claim, class, substantiation evidence, deficiencies — without leaving the diagram.
- Drag a preventative measure onto a specific initiating event to scope its credit to just that event, exactly matching how the protection actually applies.
- Double-click any measure to jump straight into the Golden Thread, showing every other fault sequence it also protects.
- Hover a consequence box to trace its full path back through the diagram, or drag the canvas to pan and scroll to zoom on a large, complex sequence.
- Hover any barrier to see its zone of influence — every initiating event upstream and every consequence downstream lights up purple, so you see exactly what's exposed if that one measure fails.
- Hold Alt and hover a barrier for an instant Evidence Peek — the linked substantiation evidence and its status, right there on the canvas, no drawer, no clicking through.
Built for the Boardroom, Not Just the Desk
Two more ways the diagram adapts to how you're actually looking at it:
- Zen Mode strips away the sidebar and toolbars with one click, so a committee review on a projector sees the dark canvas edge-to-edge instead of your day-to-day editing chrome.
- Semantic zooming keeps a 50-node sequence readable even zoomed all the way out — past a certain point, descriptive text fades away and only each node's short ID and colour coding remain, a clean shape of the whole graph instead of an unreadable blur of tiny paragraphs.
